THE GERBER GAZETTE
2019
We think often of family and friends and wish we were closer or traveled farther from home. For now, we are sending wishes for the Merriest Christmas and a Happy, Happy New Year.
Christmas this year has come even faster than ever before. With so many distractions, the card making never happened. So, our digital card and newsletter will have to do. We hope this finds each of you in good health and enjoying the holiday festivities.
Our family of 6 continues to move forward and experience new adventures. Amielia is still working on her computer college degree. She is almost half way there now. When she isn't studying or doing homework, she enjoys working on her aquariums/terrariums. She has emassed quite a collection.
Abi, now requesting all to call her Zach, is finishing her first semester at the local community college. She completed her first math as a duel enrolled student during her senior year of high school. So, she now is completing English 101, as well as two art courses that will apply to her graphic arts certificate.
Sky, who is getting good grades, is having major difficulty with harrasment this year. We have hit upon a solution which should take place second semester. She will be attending Virtual Academy. She will be in class Monday through Thursday and may leave after 5 hours each day if all work is done. In addition, she will be able to graduate after next year, a year early. As of now, she doesn't know what she wants to do after high school graduation.
Zanaya (Sassy!) is three. She talks non-stop and is quite creative. She still speaks quite a bit of gibberish but usually finds a way to make herself understood. As with many kids these days, she is adept at using Mom's old cell phone to watch her Disney Jr. programs or play games when her limited internet time has expired.
Trey (Hal III) and Jasmin had great news recently. Oliver, now almost 2, will be a big brother to his new little sister in the spring! This little girl will be our 3rd great grandchild.
Frank continues to work for Homeland Security and is doing well. Morgan is home schooling all three children this year. They are doing well and are quite advanced. The girls may be taking some work at the near-by community college in the near future.
Sad news for us. My Jessie (American Mastiff) had to leave us a few weeks ago. She developed cancer in her liver, which rapidly spread to her pancreas. Letting her go was the kindest thing we could have done for her. She was a good girl. We rehomed her 3 years ago as a companion to our boy Kieren. We lost him in February, 2018.
Before Jessie got sick, we adopted our last American mastiff. Aidan, who happens to be Jessie's grandson, joined us in June. Right now, he is all dopey, gangly boy. But, he has graduated from his first obedience class and earned his AKC Star Puppy award. We are taking a month or so off and then will continue with his next obedience work. Aidan is going to be a BIG boy. He is already 150 pounds at 9 months of age.
The three kittens we fostered for the Humane Society are still with us. They are grown cats now, each with his own personality. I still take a foster bottle baby when there is a need and I have time. We just sent back a little orange girl for adoption. The "boys" helped to train her to play like a kitten.
Ron and I continue to bound joyfully from bed early each morning....not believing that huh? Well, we are still kicking. Ron enjoys watching old 50's series TV shows and playing his computer simulation games. I spend many days each week driving the girls to and from school and other events. Now that Amielia is driving, she fills in frequently when we have to be going in opposite directions. There are numerous doctors' appointments that keep us on our toes, but we are doing OK on the whole.
That's a quick wrap up of our family's doings in 2019. We hope your year was prosperous and productive.
MERRY, MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
