THE GERBER GAZETTE
2020
Well, this has been quite a year! I am sure that each and every one of you has a story to tell. We are lucky to say that we all are well and have managed to stay engaged while being quarantined. Ron and I pretty well stay put anywy, so quarantine has not been that stressful. Ron spends most of his time either on the couch watching TV or napping or on the computer checking his stocks. We found out this year that Ron his beginning to experience the affects of vascular dementia. He still is doing pretty well, but does feel confusion at times.
I get out of the house a bit more. Amielia and I do a weekly shopping at the local BJs. Amielia picks up the bits and pieces throughout the week at the local grocery store. I also make quite a few visits to the local Humane Society to care for our foster kittens. We have raised over 20 kittens this year. They keep me busy and entertained.
Amielia continues her online college courses, but has gotten much busier since Zanaya is now in 4 year old Pre-Kindergarten. All of Zanaya's classes are online and she is learning to handle virtual learning. She was looking forward to going to real school last fall, but she is adapting fairly well. Getting her to sit stil while each kid takes a turn responding has been a bit of a process, but she is coming along.
Zack (Abi) didn't return to community college this past fall. He is trying to figure out just where he fits in. Recently, he has started to find interent in his art again. We are quite please with that.
Sky is attending, virtually, the Virtual Academy again. There was a plan for students to return to the physical building second quarter since there are only a few students in each class and all are on computers. But, with the renewed quarantine restrictions, Sky continues taking her classes online at home. Actually sticking to a work schedule has been difficult for Sky to manage. But, she is improving.
Bubby (William) and Gavin, now 15, get to visit with their sisters every once in awhile. They also are virtual learning. I think this quarentine is hardest on the teen-agers.
This February, we welcomed our third great grandchild. Trey and Jasmin had a beautiful daughter, named Katherine. Brother Oliver, now 3, is growing like a weed, not looking at all like a baby anymore. We see pictures, but haven't visited yet.
Ami is still here, residing in the garage. After lots of odd jobs here and there, she has finally settled on "Uber" type shuttling in the evenings. Unfortunately, this has not yet provided enough income for Ami to afford a place of her own.
Frank and family are still living in Virginia, near Fredericksburg. Since all of Frank's children were already home schooled, there has not been a huge change for them. Frank has been able to work from home most of the quarantine. Since Morgan is very autoimune compromised, they have paid strict attention to wearing masks, sanitizing, and social distancing. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to visit with them since March.
With staying put, there haven't been a lot of opportunities for photographs, but there are a few.
So, we look forward to a new year, continued health, and a better world to come. Our Christmas wish for you is to STAY SAFE and find joy in the good things we still have.
MERRY, MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
