In February of 1970, Ron was reassigned to Italy. It was the same assignment he had had before we were married. So, I was able to see many of the places that Ron loved to visit. We even got to stay in the same hotel in Basel, Switzerland, on our trip south.

Our house in Italy.

This is Lake Garda (northern Italy) on which our little town of Desenzano was located.

There was a little place down the road a piece. It is called Sirmione. It is on a small peninsula and has an old ruined castle, many little shops, and some wonderful places to eat.

Here are two pictures of Sirmione.

One of our favorite places to visit was Venice. Here, two of our friends from Germany (Gil Jones and Marcus Rarick), tour the canals with us. Two other wonderful places we visited were Florence and Rome.

The Franci Arms factory was nearby, so Ron took me to get a rifle of my own. The first time I shot skeet, I did fairly well. After everyone gave me lessons, my shooting skills diminished considerably!

We also decided to skip the American Express tours and took a trip of our own to Monaco. That was much more leisurely and a lot more fun.

In the spring of 1971, Ron was assigned to the Naval Ordnance School in Indian Head, Maryland, to become an explosives ordnance disposal (EOD) technician. So, we packed up our things and said good-by to Italy.
